But for 15 minutes invested (in extremely difficult casting conditions), it was a great way to get a quick fix on a 5wt fly rod.

I tied that #8 black-on-black Clouser with chartreuse flash less than a week ago. It's taken about 10 smallies already. Can you say go-to fly??

I tie a very similar version of the Clouser except, white and chartreuse with silver flash. Works ridiculously well! Clouser's are definitely becoming some of my go-to's.
I've landed a few on white + chartreuse, but our water has been high & murky, so have been tying on the black + black...well, to be honest, I tied on that one a couple days ago & just never got around to tying on anything else or rigging down my rod :)
